When makers attach leather or other composite material to thermoplastic such as Kydex, Boltaron, or a number of other hard, resistant moldable materials, the sharp prongs of t-nut fasteners bite into the composite material, providing a strong hold and a clean, flush surface when mated with a threaded screw.
